Locality founded by Fernando de Aramburu on 1840, situated in the union of valleys Santa Maria and Calchaquí, on the foot of the hill San Isidro, to the south of the Calchaquíes Valleys of the Province of Salta.
Cafayate belongs to the circuit of vine-growing production, to 1700 meters on the level of the sea, counts with a special microweather for the production and vine growing elaboration, mainly of the one of the grape of the type torrontés.

_Plaza Principal -Main Square (Nuestra Señora del Rosario st., San Martín st., Güemes St. And Belgrano st.)_ The different exotic species stand out. A central mast divides it into eight sectors. _Catedral Nuestra Señora del Rosario -Cathedral- (in front of the Main Square)_ This is one of the three churches of the country that have five ships. Its facade is composed by two towers. In its interior is conserved an image of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, that appears sat down.
_Mercado Artesanal (in front of the Main Square)_ It congregates several local craftsmen.
_Museo de la Vid y el Vino (General Güemes Av. y Chacabuco St.)_ It is in the interior of the shed of one old warehouse.
_Taller Cristofani (National Route Nº40 and stream Don Leilo)_ Factory of crafts pertaining to the Cristofani's Family. In front of the warehouse La Rosa.
_Bodegas_ The dry weather of Cafayate allows the vine-growing production. The wines of the region are traditional, and the visit to warehouses and the tasting of its wines are one of its main attractiveness. Among them stands out the Michel Torino's warehouse.
_Cerro San Isidro_ From it you can appreciate the Calchaquí Valley.
