Junín de los Andes is located in the southwest of the province of Neuquén , by National route N° 234, in the right margin of the Chimehuín river.
It had its origin in a fort constructed on february 15th of 1883 by Sargent Miguel E. Vidal and conforms one of the oldest towns of the province.
This town reflects history and tradition that mapuche's culture left there.
Basically, Junín de los Andes , works like departure point to visit the North lacustrine sector in the National Park Lanín.
At Junín de los Andes you might visit:
Monolith::. (National Historical Place) Marks the location of the bunker, that also remembers the Campaign to los Andes (Campaña a los Andes ).
Central seat Jose of San Martín::. It is surrounded by araucarias and forestada with native species.
Mapuche Museum Chimehuín Combat::. ( National Historical Place ) it's not exactly in the town, but in its surroundigs.

* Lakes Huechulafquen and Paimún: the first one is the most extensive of the National Park Lanín.
* Spas of Lahuen-Co
* Tromen Lake : here is the border crossing to Chile Tromen or Mamuil Malal, that receives this second name because of the bunker that existed there, declared National Historical Place .
* Lanín volcano
* Numerous rivers for sport fishing, even the Chimehuín.
