Located city to borders of the New gulf of the patagonia coast in the province of Chubut, first city before the Peninsula Valdes. Its foundation, the 28th July 1865, is related to the arrival of the Wales settlers that came on board of the Mimosa ship. Nowadays at Punta Cuevas, the landing place, located at 4 kilometers to the south, is the Monument to the Tehuelche Indian.

The city grew as of 1886 with the construction of the railroad, that united Puerto Madryn with Trelew. The intense harbor activity helped, also, to its development.
Puerto Madryn is well-known like the National Capital of the Diving, this is thanks of its transparent waters that allow the solar entrance of light until a depth of 70 meters.
Its main attractive tourist activity is the sightseeing of the austral frank whale, a species in extinction that every year, between June and December, arrives until this zone to reproduce themselves.

This city has an ample seashore avenue with a beautiful sight of the oceanic beach, that shows a great variety of inns, nautical restaurants, bars and clubs where you can spend the day.

Museo Provincial de Ciencias Naturales y Oceanografico (Almte. Domecq Garcia st. and Jose Menendez st.) _ Inaugurated the 22nd February 1972 in the old Pujol Ville, property of the Spanish Agustin Pujol, pioneer of the region. It has a vast collection of flora, fauna and history of the region, distributed in nine rooms.

_ EcoCentro Puerto Madryn (3784, Julio Verne street )_Builded on 2000 year, on a land yielded by the Municipality by a term of 30 years. It is an outstanding place of interpretation of the ecosystems marine, distributed in four rooms located in ground floor and a gallery of first stage.
