Founded officially the 25 of February of 1906 (although their limits were settled two years before this date), in charge of the Wales’ settlers, Esquel it is the greater Andean city of the province of Chubut. Located to borders of the Esquel stream, over a depression between two hills surrounded by water mirrors protected by the subAntarctic forest, they make of this city an important tourist center. In addition to it, it counts on a good tourist infrastructure.
It constitutes the access door when visiting the National Park the Larches.
According to Musters, the Esquel word comes from the native esgel-kaik "site of the abrojal", also can mean mallin "moving earth".

_ Old Patagonic Express Train, known like "the Trochita" (National Historical Monument) _ Steam’s Train, wich name belongs to its so single narrow trail of 75 centimeters. Constructed in Belgium and the United States. It unites the localities of Ingeniero Jacobacci (Negro River) and Esquel since 1945. Tourist routes: until the Nahuel Pan station (it lasts around two hours) and til the station the Maiten (it lasts around six hours).
