This city was founded in acquired lands on 1931 by Carlos Idaho Gesell (who died in 1979) . He was the one in charge to transform a barren dune landscape into a dense forest, with german seeds. Villa Gesell, was declared city in 1970, and belongs to the province of Buenos Aires. It was refuge for German, Swiss, Austrian and Italian communities in the summer. The main attractive stands for the tourists, are the beaches and to the forests that surround the urban center. You can find restaurants, artisan confectioneries, cinemas, discotecs, camping, fairs and other tourist infrastructure.

Avenue 3rd::. reunites the greater commercial activity. Its centric part is transformed into peatonal, between 104 and 107 streets.
Peatonal of 106 street::. (between avenues 2nd and 3 rd bis)
Coastal Avenue::. ( 303 st . until 129 street)
Fishing Dock::. (to the height of the stroll 129)
Del Pinar Amphitheater::. (10th avenue and 102 st ) Center of cultural activities, for example Encuentro de Corales de Verano( Summer Coral's Encounter) since 1970 and Jornadas Qargentinas de Cine y Video (Argentine Days of Independent Cinema and Video since 1978.
Forest Reserv and Pinar del Norte's Cultural Park::. First it was a public stroll with open streets and vehicles access , but from 1993 it was surrounded in order to preserve it. Created with the objective to protect the historical patrimony that gave origin to this city. Here began the afforestation tasks that today dominates the landscape along with the representative fauna. Within the reserve it is possible to visit:
*Municipal Historical museum (first house of Carlos Idaho Gesell, constructed in 1931 and recognized by his four constructed doors to escape of the dune invasion).
* Cultural center, library and Municipal File (occupies El Chalé Don Carlos since 1995 , house of Carlos Idaho Gesell from 1952 to its death).
* Municipal breeding ground
* Apicultural Association and Forest workshop
* Park Rangers
Adventures in the Forest - Zoo-thematic Park::. (Silvio Gesell boulevard and 101 st ) recreational Space crossed by a steam little train.
You can't miss:
· Natural Municipal Reserve: Querandí Light House ( 25 kilometers away) Reserve created in 1996 with the intention of preserving the coastal dune's ecosystem in its natural state. Around the light house, stands out a small forest. The light hous has a height of 54 meters and a luminance reach of 18 miles .
* Mar de las Pampas, Mar Azul, Las Gaviotas (access by avenue 3rd or Provincial route N° 11) contiguous Localities to Villa Gesell, dominating landscape of afforested forests. You can access to the Querandí Light House by Mar Azul.
